Mr. Edgar M. Mera is a product of the New York City Public School system, who believes that education is the key that unlocks the opportunity for future success. Born and raised in Brooklyn, Mr. Mera understands the obstacles and challenges our scholars face on a daily basis, inside and outside the classroom. He knows the power teachers and administrators have played in his life towards his development for success and as a man, which is why he’s taught for the Department of Education through the Teaching Fellows Program and why he’s earned his Administrative License from CITE – College of Saint Rose. He has over 13 years of teaching experience and has devoted his life to developing future leaders and provide the necessary resources that will help them become leaders of their family, community, and beyond; in the end, creating a legacy. The following are two quotes I present to our scholars and follow: “You don’t have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.” – Zig Ziglar and “It’s not about being the best, it’s about being better than you were yesterday.” – Anonymous. I believe that our scholars have to learn how to be the best “them” they can be.
